June 2012
After two years of hard work, 17 Abruzzo artworks were shown to the public, recovered after the earthquake and restored by the laboratories of University of Urbino.
Artworks were taken by Civil Defense of Marche Region, thanks to ANCI Marche financial support; they were put in the hands of the course in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, coordinated by prof. Laura Baratin, in an initiative between education and artistic renovation. 70 students, followed by 8 restorers, worked on wooden sculptures, paintings, a fresco removed and a tower clock, attending laboratories included in the list of courses and others “ad hoc” established for completing works, under constant supervision of regional board of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. Activity also availed of other experts collaboration in documentation and diagnostics, related to restoration works. Before coming back to original sites, artworks will be shown until June, 20th at Sala del Castellare in Duca Federico square and then in other Abruzzo venue to be defined.
